Today, we are sharing an important update about Comeau’s Sea Foods. An agreement has been reached for Comeau’s Sea Foods to be acquired by Mersey Seafoods, a Nova Scotia seafood company with shared values, deep roots in coastal communities, and a relationship with Comeau’s that spans 50 years. The transaction is subject to standard closing conditions and pending regulatory approvals.
Â
There are no immediate changes to day-to-day operations. Comeau’s Sea Foods will continue to operate from locations across Southwest Nova Scotia, and the Comeau name will remain as part of the business.
Â
Founded 80 years ago, Comeau’s Sea Foods has deep roots in the Acadian community of Clare and has long been a major employer and contributor to the seafood industry in southwest Nova Scotia. Comeau’s has always been guided by a strong sense of responsibility to its employees, customers, and community, and this decision reflects careful long-term planning for the company’s future while keeping it rooted in Saulnierville.

We know this news may raise questions. We are committed to being clear and straightforward throughout the transition and will share further updates as confirmed information becomes available.

The strength of Comeau’s Sea Foods has always come from its people, and that remains true as we move into this next chapter.
